My third session with Jay in downtown Orlando was brief but substantive. Between takes, our conversation wandered through life philosophies and aspirations, adding depth to what might otherwise have been a straightforward urban shoot. Having photographed him multiple times, I’ve witnessed his growing confidence and self-direction – he’s internalized many technical aspects of modeling that once required explicit guidance. His Puerto Rican heritage seems to inform something essential about his presence in front of the camera – a natural expressiveness that can’t be taught. Watching someone develop their visual identity through repeated collaborations has been one of the more rewarding aspects of this creative relationship.
